India and South-East
Asia are among the most attractive markets for ABBYY. The past 20
months of ABBYY’s presence on the Indian market have seen the
company’s sales increase by almost 150%, putting India in second
place in the region in terms of sales. ABBYY’s fastest growing
business on the Indian subcontinent is forms processing and data
capture. This success is largely due to the extensive marketing
support from the Indian distributors and the Moscow office. This
success resulted in many awards to FineReader from Indian
magazines.

ABBYY FineReader was
acknowledged the undisputed champion among OCR-systems by Indian
magazine 'Digit'.
"ABBYY FineReader
is the undisputed champion. The only software that could give it a
run for its money was OmniPage. And the newspaper-clip test helped
us decide between the two, since an OCR software that faithfully
reproduces a newspaper clip in its entirety has to be the winner.
In terms of accuracy, OmniPage and FineReader are pretty close;
but FineReader wins on sheer versatility and features".

results of comparative test.

“ABBYY works with one of the distributors in India - Netspider,
which markets ABBYY products in the north and in the west of the
country, and TRS, which covers the south and the east. We are very
happy that thanks to our consolidated efforts our business in
India has been growing at a record pace. We are not going to
reduce our activity in the region and hope that this strong growth
will continue,” said ABBYY’s Helen Pospelova.
